The 1978 NFL Draft was held on May 2-3, 1978. A total of 334 players were chosen over 12 rounds. The Houston Oilers chose Running Back Earl Campbell from Texas as the first pick in the draft. Future Hall of Famers Earl Campbell, James Lofton and Ozzie Newsome were selected in this draft.
