On the rise: David Jones, signed as a rookie last season after New Orleans waived him, has emerged as the No. 3 cornerback early in training camp behind starters Johnathan Joseph and Leon Hall. Jones was the Saints' fifth-round pick. As a rookie in 2007, he played in seven games on special teams. Coach Marvin Lewis said Jones learned a lot on the fly last year as a rookie, worked hard in the offseason and made great strides.

His play has been indicative of fine work by the defensive secondary early in camp.
