On the rise: The difference between winning and losing in the NFL can be as simple as staying healthy. One of the reasons the Bengals got off to a terrible start in 2007 was that left tackle Levi Jones was behind physically (knee) when training camp started and he needed time to work himself up to speed. He still ended the season as a third alternate to the Pro Bowl. This year Jones is healthy, which bodes well for the team.

On the rise: David Jones, signed as a rookie last season after New Orleans waived him, has emerged as the No. 3 cornerback early in training camp behind starters Johnathan Joseph and Leon Hall. Jones was the Saints' fifth-round pick. As a rookie in 2007, he played in seven games on special teams. Coach Marvin Lewis said Jones learned a lot on the fly last year as a rookie, worked hard in the offseason and made great strides.
