EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The New York Jets' defense rattled and roughed up Kurt Warner in the second quarter, and Brett Favre took care of the rest. Favre threw a career-high and Jets-record six touchdown passes, including three to Laveranues Coles, and New York took advantage of a series of mistakes by Arizona in a big second quarter before holding on to beat the Cardinals 56-35 on Sunday.

REDSKINS 24 CARDINALS 17

First, Taylor tipped a Kurt Warner pass on first down that prevented a completion to WR Larry Fitzgerald. Then Golston sacked Warner to force third and 17. Arizona fell short and...

Cardinals' Passing Prowess Runs Aground Against a Near-Perfect Plan

There were no secrets behind the Arizona Cardinals' success in the early weeks of this NFL season, no ruse or cunning involved in their ascent. They were attacking defenses with a monstrous receiving duo -- Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin -- and daring teams to stop them.

FOURTH QUARTER Redskins 24, Cardinals 17

Following a Redskins punt to start the quarter, Arizona took possession at its 19-yard line, and after a sack and a penalty, a 20-yard pass attempt by Warner was deflected by cornerback Leigh Torrence and intercepted by Carlos Rogers, who returned the ball to the Arizona 15. Two plays later,...

THIRD QUARTER Redskins 17, Cardinals 17

Arizona's offense discarded its first-half sluggishness with its opening drive, which got a boost from a roughing-the-passer call against Fred Smoot. Moving in and out of the no-huddle, the Cardinals advanced to the Redskins 9-yard line before settling for a 26-yard Neil Rackers field goal....

SECOND QUARTER Redskins 10, Cardinals 7

The Redskins capitalized immediately on a fumble by James on the final play of the first, using a pass interference call and a 12-yard reception by wide receiver Santana Moss to set up Shaun Suisham's 48-yard field goal, giving Washington a 10-0 lead. After trading punts, Arizona's offense came to...

FIRST QUARTER Redskins 7, Cardinals 0

The Redskins' offense picked up right where it left off after its big fourth quarter a week ago. This time, a short kickoff gave the Redskins the ball at their 40, and 11 plays later Clinton Portis was in the end zone. Jason Campbell completed all six of his attempts and also scrambled 16 yards for...

Cardinals live up to their word against Dolphins

Jason Ferguson didn't like it when the Arizona Cardinals, most of all wide receiver Anquan Boldin, openly talked last week about burying the Dolphins early with a few big plays on Sunday.

Cardinals' Old and Restless a Surprise Hit

It didn't exactly seem like a recipe for success entering the season when the Arizona Cardinals sat down their would-be franchise quarterback, Matt Leinart, in favor of aging veteran Kurt Warner and were on the receiving end of a verbal attack by their own standout pass catcher, Anquan Boldin.

Dolphins suffer quick knockout in 31-10 loss to Cardinals

Cardinals receiver Boldin burns Dolphins for 3 TDs

Run it up: Anquan Boldin had a simple message for his Cardinals teammates before facing the Dolphins: "It's not a crime to blow these teams out." No, but it is a first-degree football felony to pass over a receiver like him. The Dolphins again suffered for the folly of previous regimes Sunday as the Pahokee product caught six passes for 140 yards and three touchdowns. That was the 22nd 100-yard game Boldin has produced since the Dolphins -- specifically, former coach Dave Wannstedt -- chose LB Eddie Moore over Boldin in the second round of the 2003 draft. They did so even though the scouting staff put a late first-round grade on Boldin and a high third-ground grade on Moore, who is out of the NFL. In case that didn't bring back enough bad memories, Boldin created new ones. He capitalized on a miscommunication and a mismatch with LB Akin Akodele for a 79-yard TD. He lulled with "a kind of lazy motion" for his 3-yard score. He capped the day by snatching a pass behind him for an 8-yarder to make it 30-3. "These are the games we're supposed to win, and not just barely win," Boldin said.
